Evaluation

For this project I started by researching photographers that made multiple images. I looked at Paul M Smith first and liked the images he did of Robbie. I liked that the images were really close together making them more realistic.

I then found a girl who isn't famous but makes loads of multiple images. I really liked this one and liked the idea of maybe creating a get together scene in the garden. I knew that I wouldn't be able to fit as many people in my garden as its quite small but I wanted to try and fit as many as I could in one photo.

When it came to shooting I used my cousin. I found it difficult to think of different things she could be doing. I did simple things like standing talking but I wanted to try something a little more complex. This is when I decided to try and make it look like she was passing the glass to herself. I knew that this would be a bit of a challenge as the glass is see through and I'd need to show her hands behind it grabbing hold of the glass.

Here is my final photo:

Composition:
The composition for this photograph is a kind of diagonal composition. With the washing line going diagonally the people kind of follow it.

Theme:
The theme for this image is interaction. The people are talking to each other as if they two separate people rather than all the same person. A lot of people that make multiple images like to show conflict between themselves in images where as this is all about individual people.

Colouring:
The colouring is pretty dull. There aren't really any bright colours other than the red berries in the background. It's all very neutral.

Improvements:
If I was to re do this work and make improvements I would first make sure that the tripod stayed still as it moved on one of the frames meaning that part of the washing line is cut off and on her leg. I would also be more precise going around the outline of the people as I can see some bits are faded which doesn't look realistic.

Compare Two Multiple Images

The first multiple image is by Sarah Hudson and the second image is by Wendy McMurdo.

Lighting/Mood?

The lighting in the first picture is very bright as they use a white backdrop but in the second picture the lighting is pretty dark as their backdrop and surrounding area are black/grey. The mood in the first image is quite relaxed and peaceful where as the second image is quite moody and it isn't a very happy and cheery atmosphere.

Composition?

The first image has the people dead centre and they are not close up where as the second image has the people centre but spread out and closer so that they take up the whole frame.

Colouring?

The colouring is pretty similar to the lighting as the first images is very bright with the use of white. But the second image is pretty dark as they use a dark backdrop and dull clothing.

The first thing you have to do is open up all your images in photoshop by going to File > Open

The next thing you do is choose which image you want as your background image and click and drag it so that it is separate from all your other photos. I chose this image:

Then go to your other images and find a photo you want to layer on top and go to the mouse tool that looks like this:

Click and drag your image over the top of your background image. Your layers should now look like this:

The easiest thing to do when making your clone is to make your Opacity lighter so that you can see both images:

Move your image around until your new layer is in a suitable place.

Now go to Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal All:

Your layers should now look like this:

Click on the Paint brush and make sure that your colours are black and white like below:

You can change the size of your brush size by going to the top of the toolbar on photoshop

now colour around your person/object rubbing out all the excess background. Your layer will look like this. You should have a white mark where the person is.

If you erase to much and want to bring some back, switch your colours to white so that you can colour in the bits you need.

Plan

For my multiple image I want to create something like Paul M Smith's photos of Robbie where you have the same person repeated over and over again in some sort of situation.

I want a busy-ish sort of photo like this:

- I think that maybe making my photos look like a party scene would be interesting.

- Have my model stand in different positions all around the room making it look like a party.

- Try and create the effect that people are talking to each other.

- Location would either be in my living room or if the weather is good, in the garden allowing more room.

Research.

Paul M Smith

Inspired/Interested you?
I chose this image as I like how they are all so close to each other. I think it's the most realistic one and isn't overly photoshopped.

Lighting/Mood?

The lighting is quite bright. It's outside and it doesn't look like any special lighting equipment was used for it, just natural daylight. I think that the mood is happy and energetic. They are obviously trying to emphasis the fact that they are excited about the football match.

Theme

The theme is football and they are showing their excitement at a football match

Composistion

They are the main picture. You don't have too much background in it. Having them in the middle and so close to the front makes them centre of attention and makes people focus on them and their different facial expressions.

Colouring

The colouring is quite bright, it's also very similar colours. There is a lot of blue which emphasis' the team they are in.
